The wet interior of fallen off pine bark on a woodland floor has new life growing within a break of that bark. This is the miracle of regenerative life in the woodland ecosystem. I often slow-walk Skunk-Foster State Natural Area pathways looking for the unusual, something that perhaps a macro lens can capture that presents beauty or makes me pause in wonderment. This is such an image. The abstract arrangement of the bark’s texture and colors contrast with the orderly balance and proportions of the green plant.
