Description
This chunk of Turkey-tail fungi dropped off a decaying tree trunk over the winter onto the fall's leaves, which make for a fitting backdrop. This perspective allows for the viewer to see why the fungi has the name it does, as it mimics the fanned-out tail of the North American Wild Turkey. It grows from May through December and could persist over several seasons. This specimen was found in the Skunk-Foster State Natural Area in Scandinavia, Wisconsin.
